Access 4 All Clinic

Three Streams Family Health Center and the Buncombe County Medical Society (BCMS) are pleased to announce the official opening of the Access 4 All Clinic at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 2nd, 9:30 AM at the Three Streams location on 1710 Old Haywood Road.

Uninsured Buncombe County residents can now be seen during additional, non-traditional hours for primary care and minor urgent care needs at the new Access 4 All Clinic. Open late Tuesday evenings, and all day Friday and Saturday, organizers anticipate that the expanded hours of the Access 4 All Clinic will allow more opportunities for uninsured people to get the care they need. Fr. Chris Newcomb, Executive Director of Three Streams, observes “Just like the recent opening of our AB Tech clinic with Eblen Charities, we hope to expand access to needed care for our disadvantaged residents.”

Patients may make appointments for these new hours or walk in on a first come, first served basis for a limited minor urgent care visit. Though the clinic is not free, fees are being kept low to allow low income residents of Buncombe County to be seen. Patients are encouraged to call ahead to find out the financial requirements and “proof of income” documents needed. According to Geri Spangler, Practice Administrator of Three Streams, urgent care fees will be one of two rates depending on severity of the need: $20 or $35. Primary Care patients will need to show financial documents to receive discounted care on a sliding scale of 20%, 40%, 60% or 80% off.

Based on medical need and other requirements, patients may also be eligible to participate in BCMS’ Project Access, a comprehensive, volunteer physician network offering a wide array of healthcare services, such as specialty care, inpatient and outpatient hospital care, physical/occupational therapy, radiology, labs, medications, durable medical equipment, complementary alternative medicine, and medical interpreters. BCMS Project Access plans to co-locate on a part-time basis an eligibility screener at the Access 4 All Clinic to streamline referrals into Project Access for patients who qualify.
